Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using CurrentPrep (“the Platform”), operated by CurrentPrep (based in New Delhi, India), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must discontinue use of the Platform immediately.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User”, “you”) and CurrentPrep (“we”, “us”, “our”).

2. Description of Service

CurrentPrep is a UPSC Civil Services Examination preparation platform that provides:

• AI-generated daily current affairs Daily Digests with UPSC-focused explainers.
• AI-powered quiz and mock test generation calibrated to UPSC standards.
• UPSC syllabus resources, NCERT summaries, and study materials.
• Monthly digest magazines compiling key current affairs.
• Performance analytics and study progress tracking.

3. User Accounts & Security

• You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
• You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
• One person may not maintain more than one account.
• You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• You must notify us immediately at support@currentprep.in of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Free & Premium Plans

CurrentPrep offers both free and premium tiers:

• Free Tier: Access to daily current affairs, syllabus hub, limited practice quizzes (5/day), and basic study tools.
• Pro Tier: Unlimited quizzes and mock tests, Daily Digest with explainers, full-length exam simulations, performance analytics, bookmarks, and AI-powered study tools.

We reserve the right to modify features available in each tier with 30 days' notice. Material downgrades to the Pro tier during an active subscription will be accompanied by a proportionate refund or plan extension.

5. Pricing & Payment

CurrentPrep offers the following paid options:

• All prices are in Indian Rupees (INR) and exclusive of GST (18%). GST is calculated and displayed at checkout before payment.
• Payments are processed securely through Razorpay (PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant). We do not store your card or UPI details.
• Prices may be changed with 30 days' notice. Existing subscriptions will not be affected until their renewal date.
• We validate all payment amounts server-side. Any attempt to tamper with pricing will be rejected and may result in account suspension.

6. Refund & Cancellation Policy

For complete details, please see our Refund Policy page. Key points:

• Single Tests & Test Packs: Non-refundable once the test has been accessed or started.
• Pro Monthly: Cancel anytime. No refunds for partial months. Access continues until the end of the billing period.
• Pro Yearly: Full refund within 7 days if no premium content has been accessed. After 7 days, a pro-rata refund (minus a 15% processing fee) is available within 30 days. No refunds after 30 days.
• Early Access (Free Pro): No refund applicable as no payment was made.

Refund requests must be sent to support@currentprep.in with your registered email and order ID. Refunds are processed within 5–7 business days.

7. Email Communications Consent

By creating an account, you consent to receiving the following emails:

• Transactional: Account verification, password resets, payment confirmations, security alerts. These cannot be opted out as they are essential for service delivery.
• Daily Digest: UPSC current affairs digest delivered daily. You are opted in by default and can unsubscribe at any time via the link in the email.
• Promotional: Feature announcements and special offers. You can opt out at any time.

8. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

CurrentPrep uses Google Gemini AI and other large language models to generate educational content including Daily Digest explainers, quiz questions, mock tests, and study summaries. Please understand the following:

• Not a substitute for official sources: AI-generated content is supplementary study material. Always cross-verify critical facts with NCERT textbooks, official UPSC notifications, and government publications.
• Possibility of errors: AI models can produce inaccurate information, outdated facts, or “hallucinated” content. While we implement multi-layer fact-checking (structural validation, reference verification, and hallucination detection), no system is perfect.
• No guarantee of exam results: Using our platform does not guarantee success in UPSC or any other examination. Your results depend on your preparation, effort, and many other factors.
• Content attribution: News articles referenced in our Daily Digests are attributed to their original sources (e.g., The Hindu, PIB, Indian Express). We do not claim ownership of original news content.
• AI transparency: Content that is AI-generated is labeled as such. We are committed to transparency about the role of AI in our platform.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose.
• Share, sell, or redistribute your account credentials.
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute platform content (including questions, Daily Digests, and explainers) without written permission.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or our systems.
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Platform at scale.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Platform.
• Circumvent or attempt to circumvent session limits, rate limiting, or other security measures.
• Upload malicious content, spam, or engage in any activity that disrupts the Platform.

Violation of these terms may result in immediate account suspension or termination, without refund, at our sole discretion.

10. Intellectual Property

All content on CurrentPrep, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, AI-generated materials, quiz questions, Daily Digest content, and software, is the property of CurrentPrep or its licensors and is protected under Indian copyright law. You may use the content for personal, non-commercial study purposes only. Redistribution, reproduction, commercial use, or sharing on social media for commercial purposes requires prior written permission. Quoting small excerpts for non-commercial educational discussion is permitted with attribution.

11. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability of the Platform, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service:

• Target Uptime: We target 99.5% monthly uptime for core services (mock tests, Daily Digest access, authentication).
• Scheduled Maintenance: Planned maintenance windows will be communicated at least 24 hours in advance via email or platform banner. We aim to schedule maintenance during off-peak hours (2 AM – 6 AM IST).
• Unscheduled Downtime: In the event of unexpected outages, we will communicate status updates and expected resolution times. If downtime exceeds 48 continuous hours, Pro subscribers may request a proportionate service extension.
• Third-Party Dependencies: Some features depend on third-party services (Razorpay, Supabase, Google APIs). Outages in these services are beyond our control but will be communicated transparently.

12. Limitation of Liability

CurrentPrep is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform.
• We are not responsible for exam results, career outcomes, or any decisions made based on our content.
• Our total aggregate liability for any claims is limited to the amount paid by you for the service in the preceding 12 months, or ₹2,499, whichever is lower.

13. Account Termination

• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, including but not limited to credential sharing, content scraping, or abusive behavior.
• You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@currentprep.in.
• Upon termination, your access to premium features will cease immediately. Your data will be handled per our Privacy Policy.
• If we terminate your account for a Terms violation, no refund will be issued.
• If your account is terminated for reasons other than a violation (e.g., service discontinuation), you will receive a pro-rata refund for any unused portion of your subscription.

14. Dispute Resolution & Arbitration

• Informal Resolution: Before filing a formal dispute, you agree to contact us at support@currentprep.in and attempt to resolve the matter informally within 30 days.
• Arbitration: If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The arbitration shall be conducted by a sole arbitrator in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, in English.
• Class Action Waiver: You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis. You waive the right to participate in class action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.
• Small Claims: Disputes involving amounts under ₹5,000 may be brought in the appropriate consumer forum or small claims court in Chennai.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Subject to the arbitration clause above, the courts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising from these Terms.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the Platform at least 15 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you may terminate your account and request a pro-rata refund.
